| Contemporary art in private collections Contemporary art in private and corporate collections is a unique project for the international artfair community: as a rule, once bought by private collectors or large companies, museum-level artwork is rarely revealed to the public and experts.
At present more and more people in Russia, having exquisite taste and good intuition, are confident about the situation in the art world and are investing large sums in contemporary art, but active business lives and workpressure prevent them from presenting their collections to the public. “Contemporary art in private collections” gives private and corporate collectors an opportunity to announce their collections; it is also a visiting card of ART MOSCOW since such projects usually initiate style predilections and a new vision of collecting for visitors and specialists.
The project started in 2000, at exactly the time that many people in Russia manifested their support for development of the art market and for integration of Russian artists into international contests. Since that time, visitors have seen works from the collections of Umar Jabrailov, Tatiana Kolosovskaya, the Chronolux Art Collection and Pierre Broche, Olga Sloutsker, Dmitry Kovalenko, Natalia Ivanova, Paola Messana and Mikhail Alshibay, the “Sovremenniy Gorod” Foundation and Vladimir Antoniychouk, the “Yekaterina” cultural foundation, and also businessmen Alexander Smouzikov and Andrey Shandalov, and developer Alexander Reznikov.
