15th ART MOSCOW
Friday, April 15th, 5 – 10 PM
Exhibition, Saturday 16th, 1 – 6 PM
Art Moscow invites to a reception and non-commercial exhibition in Germany during Art Cologne 2011 with the Kandinsky Prize Winner 2010, Taisia Korotkova, at colourblindGallery.
In her Reproduction series Taisia combines her impressions of her recent stay in the hospital with imagery of recent technology for artificial insemination. Reproduction depicts the process of high tech artificial child production in the contemporary world. In her images she strips bare the intimate subject of child perception without any privacy by depicting the process as purely scientific and machine based. The anti-utopist Korotkova stresses that she recreates the already observed with sharper edges, however, the style reminds of optimistic illustrations of the 1960s with the cold pastel tones in tempera. Korotkova paints modern icons in the technique of old icon painting with a dip of humanized social realist painting. In December 2010 Taisia received the Kandinsky Prize for two works from the Reproduction series. Taisa Korotkova is invited to participate in the 4th Moscow Biennial of Contemporary Art.
