ART MOSCOW WORKSHOP carried out since 2001 is the first art precedent in Russia. This project gives to artists an opportunity to carry out the creative plans in the Central House of Artists during one week without «censorship» of the gallerists who are more focused on market condition. ART MOSCOW WORKSHOP is not a curator project. It allows to everyone - both to curators, critics and spectators - to look at art process through the prism of ideas and concepts of artists.

The project has recognized by art public as a «factory of stars » at the contemporary Russian art-market. Qualified juri traditionally selects the winner of this prize. This contemporary art national award was called BLACK SQUARE in 2003.

Since 2004 BLACK SQUARE is held different from the Art Moscow Fair dates. This occasion gives artists some additional time and chance to prepare a special project for participation in this prize. The winner has the unique opportunity to provide the special exhibition at the following Art Moscow Fair.
